BACKGROUND: Beginning October 6, millions of PECO discounted CFL bulbs will hit
the shelves at local stores. Part of PECO`s ongoing efforts to help customers
save energy, save money and help the environment, more than 800 stores will
carry the discounted bulbs by December 2009. PECO received approval from the
Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission in August to launch its CFL program
early, while review continues on the company`s many other programs to help
customers manage their energy costs. In total, these programs will help
customers reduce their energy use by 1.2 billion kilowatt-hours by 2013. To
