Richmond Walk for Lupus Now! Set for October 31

Lupus Foundation of America Aims to Raise $50,000 to Help Fund Free Services
WASHINGTON, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- People with lupus, their families, friends
and co-workers will participate in the Walk for Lupus Now! Richmond on
Saturday, Oct. 31 at 10:00 a.m. at the Richmond International Raceway, 600 E.
Laburnum Avenue, Richmond. Affecting mostly women, lupus is a chronic,
autoimmune disease with no known cure that can damage any part of the body
including the skin, joints, heart, lungs, blood, kidneys and the brain. There

"Our Richmond, Washington and Baltimore Walks are vital in providing many
free, ongoing services to people with lupus in our area," said Penny Fletcher,
president and CEO of the Lupus Foundation of America Greater Washington
Chapter (LFAGW, includes Richmond).
The Richmond Walk will help fund LFAGW's many, free services including the
Living with Lupus workshop on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 10:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at
the City of Richmond Library, 101 East Franklin.
LFAGW's free services include regular support groups, patient counseling,
support for newly diagnosed patients, the annual symposium, seminars on
employment and disabilities, a newsletter with news and information on the
latest treatments, and more. LFAGW expects the Richmond Walk to draw a large
crowd, reflective of the 75,000+ people with lupus in the Washington, Richmond
and Baltimore areas out of more than 1.5 million in the U.S.
