Silt Municipal Court Appeals JAG/BYRNE Grant Application Denial and Receives Funding to Procure Case Management from New Dawn Technologies SILT, Colo.--(Business Wire)-- Silt Municipal Court in Silt, Colorado, applied for a JAG/BYRNE grantin February 2009. In July, they received notification that their grant application was denied stating that the court should have budgeted for needs stated in the application. Budgeting was out of the question, "Because our community is so small, our budgets are tight. Our budgets pay for our staff, and we don`t have much extra. Purchasing case management was something we desperately needed but couldn`t budget for," said Janet Bodrogi, Silt Court Clerk. Bodrogi appealed the grant denial in August and by the end of the month, was notified they would be awarded grant money. The grant money was used to procure JustWare | Municipal Court from New Dawn Technologies. Prior to selecting the JustWare case management solution, Silt Municipal Court tracked cases with Microsoft Office products. "We picked JustWare because it's easy-to-use, had the financials package we needed, and the New Dawn team was great," said Bodrogi. "Our old process was difficult. We had case information in different places, making it a mess to take to court," said Bodrogi. "Before we applied for the grant, we knew we wanted JustWare. Our District Attorneys told us of their success with JustWare and with its configurability we knew it would be a good fit. With JustWare, our court will have one case file where everything is located. We won`t have to follow the paper trail anymore." The U.S. Government [JAG/BYRNE program] requires the Municipal Court to submit quarterly reports on grant money allocation, and how they are meeting the goals and objectives as described in the grant application. "JustWare will track everything the grant requires us to track-automatically. We`re so excited for how this will streamline our court!" said Bodrogi. Silt Municipal Court will go live with JustWare in early 2010. In the future they plan to incorporate JusticeBroker, New Dawn`s data sharing tool kit to share data with the Silt Police Department.
