NDN:
What: The NDN Green Project will host a panel discussion on the future of clean transportation and the auto industry. As the global
auto industry retools and re-emerges following the financial crisis, new technologies, players and business models are promising
to reinvent not only how we drive, but also one of the key industries driving global growth. Clean vehicles have the potential
to provide energy security, lower our carbon emissions and create new jobs as part of a new and cleaner, automotive future. But
how the industry re-emerges, where it thrives and what technologies and companies will come out on top remain vital questions,
the answers to which will impact not only America`s future but the world`s.
The panel will explore how private and public initiatives in the U.S. can accelerate the deployment of fuel-efficient vehicles.
Key issues to be addressed include:
-- Can private-sector leadership drive the conversion of fleets to clean alternative fuels?
-- What are the economic and environmental benefits of fleet conversion initiatives such as the one recently announced by AT&T?
-- Where will clean vehicles create jobs and how will they transform the economy?
-- What is the connection between electric cars, renewable energy and the electricity network?
-- What new technologies lie on the horizon?
-- Can clean vehicles provide energy security while addressing climate change?
Who: Michael Moynihan, NDN Green Project Director to moderate the panel
Dave McCurdy, former Congressman and President and CEO of the Auto Alliance
Mike Granoff, Head of Oil Independence Policies for Better Place
Kim Hill, Director, Sustainable Transportation and Communities Group, Center for Automotive Research and author of a recent
study on jobs and environmental benefits resulting from fleet conversion, using AT&T as a case study
