NEW YORK, Oct 6 (Reuters) - ABC News said on Tuesday that
its weekly gauge of U.S. consumer confidence edged higher,
thanks to optimistic views on the national economy.
The Consumer Comfort Index rose to -45 in the week ended
Oct. 4, after spending two weeks at a flat reading of -46.
Positive views on the U.S. economy touched their highest
level in a year, according to ABC.
However, the CCI continues to stay in deeply negative
territory.
The index first hit a record low of -54 in the week to Dec.
1, 2008, and again in the week to Jan. 25, 2009.
