UPDATE 1-America Movil launches $750 mln note sale

MEXICO CITY Oct 8 (Reuters) - America Movil (AMXL.MX) (AMX.N), Latin America's leading cellphone operator, sold a $750 million, 10-year senior unsecured note on Thursday, according to market sources.

America Movil, controlled by billionaire Carlos Slim, sold the debt at a yield of 5.105 percent, with a spread of 185 basis points over comparable U.S. Treasuries.

Officials at America Movil, with net profit of $1.71 billion in the second quarter, could not be reached for comment about the debt sale, which was handled by Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley. (Editing by Leslie Adler)
