Austrian utility EVN sees better full-year EBIT

VIENNA | Thu Oct 8, 2009 6:05am EDT

VIENNA Oct 8 (Reuters) - Austrian utility EVN (EVNV.VI) expects its 2008/09 operating earnings will be slightly better than a year ago, its chief executive said on Thursday.

"Like in the past nine months of the year, full-year operating earnings will be slightly higher in comparison with the previous year," EVN CEO Burkard Hofer told journalists in a briefing. EVN's 2008/2009 full-year ended on September 30.

It will publish the results in mid-December.

Hofer also said German utility EnBW (EBKG.DE) had not made any decision about whether to sell its 36 percent stake in his company. German media reported earlier this year that EnBW was looking into a possible sale. (Reporting by Alexandra Schwarz, Writing by Sylvia Westall)
