UPDATE 2-ITC to review anti-Mitsubishi ruling
(Adds details on decision)
WASHINGTON Oct 8 (Reuters) - A trade panel that can bar imports said on Thursday it will review a ruling that Mitsubishi infringed on General Electric Co (GE.N) patents to make wind turbines.
An administrative law judge with the International Trade Commission had ruled in August that Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd (7011.T) and Mitsubishi Power Systems had violated the law with regards to two patents to make the turbines.
The turbines, which are essentially high tech windmills, convert wind into electricity that can be channeled to the electrical grid.
The administrative law judge had ruled that Mitsubishi infringed all three patents but found that that infringement violated the Tariff Act in only two cases since, according to his ruling, GE did not use the third.
Both companies protested the decision, and the commission said it would review the judge's rulings on all three patents.
GE has asked the commission to keep Mitsubishi's wind turbines off the U.S. market. (Reporting by Diane Bartz; Editing by Carol Bishopric, Gary Hill)
