Wireless-802.11 N and Gigabit LAN

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NETGEAR®, Inc. (Nasdaq:
NTGR) a worldwide provider of technologically innovative, branded networking
solutions, today announced that Jupiter Telecommunications Co., Ltd (J:COM),
the largest multiple system operator (MSO) in Japan, is the first customer to
deploy its new DOCSIS® 3.0 Wireless-N Cable Gateway (CG3200D) for cable
operators. J:COM provides a comprehensive service menu, including cable
television, high-speed Internet access, fixed telephony, and mobile
communications. NETGEAR's CG3200D enables J:COM to offer up to 160 Mbps data
services as a compelling, differentiated offering in the highly competitive
Japanese residential broadband market.

"We're very pleased with the cooperation between NETGEAR and J:COM in this
first deployment of an advanced DOCSIS 3.0 wireless gateway as J:COM has some
of the highest performance, quality and time-to-market expectations in the
business," said David James, Director of Product Management for NETGEAR. "We
displayed the North American version at the CableLabs® Summer Conference in
August, where we showcased NETGEAR's product innovation in DOCSIS,
PacketCable(TM) and companion technologies for the cable market."

The CG3200D, part of NETGEAR's new CG3000 series, supports DOCSIS 3.0 channel

upstream enable cable operators to provide blazing-fast Internet service and
the most advanced service offerings available to residential and Small- to
Medium-sized Business (SMB) customers. The gateway is future-proof with
support for Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) and is also backwards
compatible with DOCSIS 2.0 and DOCSIS 1.1. It supports remote management and
provisioning, simple plug-in installation, and post-installation manageability
with Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). In addition, it offers 802.11n
wireless and Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports so users can take full advantage of
their high-speed WAN and LAN connections.
