Annual enterprise inventory optimization symposium attracts attendees from
more than 50 market-leading companies

PITTSBURGH, Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Forum 2009, an annual supply chain
symposium, lived up to this year's theme, "Outperform," for host SmartOps
Corporation, the market leader in Enterprise Inventory Optimization (EIO). The
event attracted 73 percent more attendees than in 2008, with representatives
from more than 50 companies gathering at the Four Seasons in Chicago on
September 29 to hear informative presentations from SmartOps, Celestica, Wyeth
Consumer Healthcare and Geoff Colvin, FORTUNE senior editor. Attendees from
some of the world's leading life science, consumer goods, manufacturing,
retailing and distribution companies gained valuable insight into how to
outperform their peers in today's economy.

Highlights of the forum included "Managing Inventory Across Integrated Supply
Chains," a presentation from Harvinder Sembhi, chief procurement officer of
Celestica, who described how his company leverages SmartOps solutions to solve
the daunting challenge of managing multiple, distinct supply chains for a
diverse customer base. In "Improving Customer Service with the Right Mix,"
Jerry Saltzman, Wyeth Consumer Healthcare's senior director, supply chain
operations, explored the ways in which SmartOps EIO sharpens supply chain
visibility to balance inventories, provide structure to the planning process
and improve customer service levels. The keynote speaker, FORTUNE's Geoff
Colvin, a best-selling author, shared with the audience his thoughts on
preparing for the eventual economic upturn by focusing on lessons such as
managing to value, being responsive to clients and "leading from the front."

As always, Forum 2009 provided unique networking opportunities, including the
chance to watch the Chicago Cubs take on the Pittsburgh Pirates from Wrigley
Field's fabled rooftop seats.

"The exceptional turnout for this year's Forum demonstrates the critical role
that supply chain management plays in an organization's overall success, along
with a clear understanding of the value that our solutions bring to the
process," said SmartOps CEO Sridhar Tayur. "In an economic climate that forced
other software companies to cancel events, attendance at Forum was not only
strong, but represents an unprecedented success for us. Relevant presentations
from SmartOps' executives, our customers and Geoff Colvin gave attendees
relevant, actionable information. And the opportunity to watch the Cubs and
Pirates in action from one of the best vantage points in sports was an added
bonus."

For those unable to attend the event, Forum content will be available on the
SmartOps web site at www.smartops.com.
