'SQL Server MVP Deep Dives' reveals tips, techniques and best practices for
database development and administration

DENVER, Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- NewsGator database architect Glenn Berry
discloses valuable insights into Microsoft SQL Server development and
administration in a new book of tips, techniques and experience-driven best
practices for database development.

"SQL Server MVP Deep Dives" (Manning Publications Co.) contains chapters from
Berry and 52 other SQL Server MVPs ("Microsoft most valuable professionals,"
or outstanding contributors to Microsoft technical communities). Topics
include SQL database design and architecture, performance tuning,
optimization, development, administration and business intelligence
integration. Berry's chapters are "Using database mirroring to become a
superhero," and "Dr DMV: how to use Dynamic Management Views."

"The SQL database is the heart and soul of many important business
applications such as the NewsGator Social Sites enterprise social networking
application," explains Berry. "In Social Sites, SQL is the clearinghouse for
all the information an enterprise generates about people, their work and their
opportunities for sharing that information to increase productivity.
Consequently, the quality of database administration ultimately affects the
enterprise's performance, which is why the knowledge in this book is
valuable."

Berry has a long list of Microsoft certifications, including CITP, MCDBA,
MCSE, MCSD, MCAD and MCTS. He is also an adjunct faculty member and master
teacher at University College - University of Denver. His technical interests
include high availability, performance optimization, database engines and DMV
queries.

All author royalties from the book go to War Child International
(www.warchild.org), a network of independent organizations working across the
world to help children affected by war. Over one billion children live in
countries or territories affected by armed conflict -- almost one sixth of the
total world population, according to UNICEF.
