NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas--(Business Wire)--
The SCOOTER Store`s latest expansion contributed to the economic development of
the city of New Braunfels in 2009. For that, Founder, President and CEO of The
SCOOTER StoreDoug Harrison received the Economic Impact Award for New Braunfels
at the Austin-San Antonio Corridor Growth Summit on Friday, Oct. 2.

Sponsored by the Austin Business Journal and San Antonio Business Journal, the
annual summit is held to showcase the growing areas between Austin and San
Antonio poised for investment and boom despite the economic challenges and the
opportunities and challenges that go along with the growth. During the summit,
the "hotspot" of each community is recognized and an Economic Impact Award to
the local project of the year is presented.

In mid-August, The SCOOTER Store (www.thescooterstore.com) expanded its world
headquarters to include a third building located in Comal Plaza. With more than
1,500 employee-owners in the New Braunfels area, parking spaces were limited at
its two-building world headquarters; therefore, a third office location was
required. After meeting with local officials in New Braunfels including the
mayor, chamber of commerce and economic development board, Harrison decided to
expand in New Braunfels and renovate the old Kroger grocery store building on
Unicorn Drive, which had been vacant for several years. Comal Plaza was named
New Braunfels` "hotspot."

"On behalf of my fellow employee-owners at The SCOOTER Store, I am honored to
accept this award in recognition of our expansion project with the city and
local chamber," said Harrison. "We have to thank New Braunfels for making it so
enticing to move into the plaza, and we are proud to be a part of this
flourishing community."

Other area award winners include Hampton Inn & Suites Buda, Core Health Care in
Dripping Springs, City of Kyle, H-E-B Grocery Co. in San Marcos, Eye Care
Centers of America, Inc. in Schertz, and Seguin Independent School District. The
New Braunfels Greater Chamber of Commerce nominated The SCOOTER Store and
Harrison for his vision and leadership in the company and community.

"The Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce was proud to nominate The SCOOTER
Store and Comal Plaza for this honor," said Chamber President Michael Meek.
"Doug Harrison was especially qualified to be recognized for his efforts and
commitment to his firm's growth and impact on New Braunfels."

The SCOOTER Store currently employs more than 2,300 people nationwide. Part of
its agreement with the city of New Braunfels includes hiring at least 250
residents of Guadalupe and Comal counties for its local locations as it
continues to expand in the coming years.
