LEAGUE CITY, TX, Oct 08 (MARKET WIRE) --
Senscient ELDS (Enhanced Laser Diode Spectroscopy) Series 1000 and 2000
Open Path gas detectors have obtained the FM Global certification
covering both USA and Canadian installations. Senscient ELDS technology
is the FIRST and ONLY laser-based open path gas detector to be certified
to this highly challenging Performance Approval Standard. Tested by the
FM Global Approvals lab, the Senscient ELDS line-of-sight gas detector
receiver/transmitter system has also been analyzed by Exida for use in
safety instrumented systems requiring Safety Integrity Level (SIL)
compliance. In addition, Senscient's factory in Poole, UK has been audited
and approved by FM Global for its quality and manufacturing practices.
"This is independent NRTL confirmation of all of the performance,
reliability, and risk reduction benefits that we designed into our new
ELDS technology from the start," explains Jean Berthold, Senscient CMSO,
VP. "Our customers are assured that ELDS OPGD systems are safe for use in
all Class 1, Division 1 and Zone 1 Hazardous Areas around the world, and
will perform reliably to the strict FM Global functional performance
standards requirements as well as to our own published specifications for
improved plant and personnel protection from hazardous gas leaks."
ELDS gas detection technology provides Senscient customers with the first
and only multi-gas OPGD system capable of detecting two or more gases
selectively with discreet communications outputs from one line-of-sight
gas detection system for up to 60% reduction in capital expenditure. The
Series 2000 ELDS OPGD for the simultaneous detection of Methane +
Hydrogen Sulfide for Sour Gas is the first of a series of multi-gas OPGD
products to be released for sale this month with other combinations to be
launched in the future.
Senscient ELDS open path gas detector (OPGD) systems are presently
operating for field evaluation at select customer locations, with
commercially available FM-approved units projected to begin shipping in
October 2009. ATEX certification will follow with shipments projected for
November 2009.
