Momentive Liquid Silicone Rubbers Showcased at Fakuma 2009

Innovative Materials on New Compact Injection Machines for Small Parts
ALBANY, N.Y.--(Business Wire)--
Momentive Performance Materials will introduce new developments in liquid
silicone rubber (LSR) at Fakuma 2009 in Friedrichshafen, Germany, October 13-17,
2009. In collaboration with equipment suppliers, Momentive will be demonstrating
two new families of LSR (Liquid Silicone Rubber) during the Fair.

At booth 2107 in Hall B2, Momentive will offer an ongoing live demonstration of
LSR molding with one of the smallest LSR injection molding machines available.
The Babyplast machine runs fully automated with the new fully fluorinated FFSL
from Momentive. This new LSR elastomer combines the processability of an LSR
(short cycle time, flashless, trim-free parts) with the resistance against fuel
and oil of a fluorosilicone. The Babyplast machine is also available with a
recently launched LSR kit, including material supply from a standard cartridge
system and a cold-runner block with needle-gate-valve. JuHa, a key supplier of
seals for wire harness applications, built the one-cavity mold for the molded
single-wire seal.

In Hall A7, booth 7020, Dr. Boy, a leading manufacturer of injection molding
machines, will feature another recently launched material innovation from
Momentive - the ultra-transparent LSR 7000 family. Dr. Boy`s new small LSR
molding machine is optimized for small molds/shot-weight, based on a piston
injection unit including a pneumatic needle gate valve for gateless injection.
Material is supplied with a two-component cartridge system. Emde, experts in LSR
molding, built the single cavity mold. Leveraging Dr. Boy`s new machine, an
optical light guide demonstration will highlight the glass-clear appearance of
LSR 7070, which combines outstanding flexibility with high heat and UV light
resistance.

As in previous years, leading suppliers of LSR molds and turnkey systems,
including Rico, Elmet and Emde, will be in attendance at the Momentive booth.
Visitors will be able to obtain critical information on LSR projects in one
location and get a precise picture of the technical and commercial feasibility
of their new product ideas. With a number of experienced LSR equipment suppliers
as exhibitors at Fakuma, the Momentive team can help to organize contact points
and discussions within its LSR industry network.

In addition to the new LSR families, Momentive will showcase new material
innovations at Fakuma, including fiber reinforced LSR materials, UV curable
HCRs, antimicrobial LSRs, and new custom compounds.
