WASHINGTON, Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- On October 6th & 7th, Charles F. Day &
Associates LLC sponsored H1N1 pandemic modeling/decision aid software
demonstrations for Department of Defense (DOD) and Department of Homeland
Security (DHS) personnel. The demonstrations were conducted by researchers
from Purdue University's Visualization and Analytics Center for DHS and DOD
personnel at both the US Army Software Engineering Group's Emergency
Operations Center (EOC) Test Bed facility at Picatinny, NJ as well as at the
National Defense University Information Resource Management College,
Washington, DC.

Purdue, with a network of affiliated universities, is the DHS Center of
Excellence for Command, Control, and Interoperability in Visualization
Sciences. The software demonstrated performs predictive modeling of pandemic
spread and hospital bed requirements down to the county level for planning and
decision making support. The software takes into account factors such as
social distancing initiatives, media effects, and release and use of the
Strategic National Stockpile of vaccines. It allows for manipulation of
parameters so that users can model expected progression based on actual
experience in their area. This demonstration was the first phase of a larger
Critical Infrastructure Modeling effort.

Dr. Day commented: "There are great technologies coming out of universities
and centers of research that are critically important to our nations' health
providers. We are glad to be able to sponsor demonstrations of this important
work by Purdue University." Charles F. Day & Associates, LLC is a Hub Zone and
Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business headquartered in Davenport, IA,
providing program management and acquisition logistics services, primarily
within the DOD.
