LOS ANGELES, CA, Oct 08 (MARKET WIRE) --
Foreigner, one of the world's most popular and enduring rock bands,
celebrates having two albums in the Billboard Top 200 chart
simultaneously. The band's new release, "Can't Slow Down," entered the
upper atmosphere of the chart at a very impressive #29, their highest
entry since "Inside Information" made its #15 chart debut in 1987. Their
2008 album release, "No End In Sight: The Very Best of Foreigner,"
re-entered the chart at #147. This unique achievement puts Foreigner in a
class of its own as the only classic rock artist in recent history to have
two albums, both featuring newly recorded tracks, in the Top 200
simultaneously. The band is also enjoying success at AC Radio with lead
single "When It Comes to Love" breaking into the top 30 on this week's
chart.
"Can't Slow Down," a new three disc collection, includes a CD album of all
new music, a CD album of the band's original hit recordings, and a DVD of
the band in concert and beyond. "Can't Slow Down" is available from Rhino
Entertainment, exclusively through Walmart, for $12.
This marks the first time in 17 years that the legendary band has released
an album of all new material. Twelve tracks on the new album are produced
by Mick Jones and Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith and Buckcherry), with
celebrated Grammy-winning producer Mark Ronson (Amy Winehouse)
contributing the Jones penned "Fool For You Anyway." The title track
"Can't Slow Down" was written by Jones, Kelly Hansen and Frederiksen as a
tribute to NASCAR in celebration of Foreigner's appearance at the Samsung
500 at the Texas Motor Speedway earlier this year.
Foreigner's catalogue sales have also responded to the renewed interest in
the band. For the third straight week, the band's total sales have
exceeded those of The Eagles, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, ZZ Top, The
Who, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Def Leppard, Boston, and most of their Classic
Rock peers. "The audience is finally waking up to the fact that the songs
they have been listening to all their lives were actually recorded by
Foreigner," said manager Phil Carson.
"I had no idea at the beginning what Foreigner would become," said
founding member Jones. "Back when we started the band, I was at a
crossroads in my life, whether I was going to carry on in music or get a
real job. So thirty years later, I think I made the right decision by
following my true passion which is making music."
Foreigner's brand of a thrilling mix of blustery blues and impeccably
crafted pop continues to captivate generation after generation of music
fans. Founded in 1976, Foreigner has sold more than 70 million albums and
has experienced multi-platinum success around the world.
