Irish Fin Min seeks 'competitive' insurance prices

DUBLIN Oct 8 (Reuters) - Ireland's Finance Minister called on insurers on Thursday to try and keep the price of motor and home insurance in check after a series of premium hikes.

"In my view it must be a priority for insurance companies to ensure that insurance cover is provided as competitively as possible, consistent with long-term commercial sustainability and viability," Brian Lenihan said in a speech to an insurance conference in Dublin.

"I am particularly conscious of the impact of a significant increase in premiums for both the consumer and business." (Reporting by Carmel Crimmins; Editing by Hans Peters)
