CANADA STOCKS-TSX follows bank shares to higher open

 TORONTO, Oct 8 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index rose
at the open on Thursday as growing signs of a global economic
recovery helped power heavyweight financial shares such as
Royal Bank of Canada (RY.TO).
 The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE rose 69.58 points, or
0.61 percent, to 11,419.46 at the open. The index's financials
group, home to banks and insurers, was up 0.85 percent.
