Seoul shares seen up; eyes on BOK, LG Telecom

SEOUL, Oct 9 (Reuters) - Seoul shares may rise on Friday
after gains overnight on Wall Street, but gains could be limited
by caution before the Bank of Korea's interest rate decision and
comments, with eyes also on the won KRW=.
"Global market developments overnight will probably have a
limited impact on Seoul markets today as we await the keenly
followed central bank rate decision and comments on its monetary
stance," said Kim Hyoung-ryoul, a market analyst at NH
Investment & Securities.
"The Bank of Korea probably will not make drastic comments,
but if it signals an earlier-than-expected rate hike aimed at
stemming market liquidity, it could weigh on sentiment. It's
expected to focus largely on the real estate market," Kim said.
Kim added that forex markets would be closely watched, with
continued strength in the won likely to pressure exporters.
LG Telecom (032640.KS), LG Dacom 015940.KS, and LG
Powercom 045820.KS may also come into the spotlight after news
LG Group plans to go ahead with a long-considered merger of its
three telecom units in the near future. [ID:nSEO33350]
