UPDATE 1-Rank 14-week sales up 2 pct, remains confident
* Like-for-like revenue flat
* Says remains confident in growth strategy
(Adds detail)
LONDON, Oct 8 (Reuters) - British bingo hall and casino operator Rank (RNK.L) said it was trading in line with expectations with group revenue up 2 percent in the 14 weeks to Oct. 4, helped by more customers visiting its Grosvenor Casinos.
Rank, which also operates Mecca Bingo and Top Rank Espana, said on Thursday like-for-like revenue was flat in the period.
Mecca Bingo delivered a modest rise in like-for-like revenue as customers visited less but spent more, it said, whilst a downturn in the Spanish economy and weakness in football margins hit Top Rank Espana and Rank Interactive respectively.
The group said it was confident in its growth strategy.
Rank shares have risen 32 percent since the start of the year and closed at 89.15 pence on Wednesday, valuing the group at 352 million pounds ($563 million). (Reporting by Paul Sandle; Editing by Dan Lalor) ($1 = 0.6252 pound)
