Quake of 7 magnitude hits Vanuatu islands: USGS

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - A strong earthquake of magnitude 7 hit the Vanuatu islands Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake hit around 0829 GMT 291 km (181 miles) north-northwest of Santo, the USGS said, at a depth of 35 km (22 miles).
