NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa.--(Business Wire)--
For the first time, the leading minds and experts in project management have
come together to author a book that predicts what project management will look
like - across major industries and regions - in the year 2025. Published by
Project Management Institute (PMI®), the world`s leading project management
organization, Project Management Circa 2025 (519 pp, hardback, US$49.95) was
unveiled to attendees today at PMI Global Congress 2009-North America in
Orlando, Fla.

The project management profession is expected to experience dramatic growth over
the next decade, as the world economy is increasingly dominated by projects. A
2008 study by the Anderson Economic Group forecasts that by 2016, demand for
employees in projectized industries will increase to 32.6 million, an increase
of 33 percent over demand in 2006. As a result, the project management
profession will undergo many future changes. Project Management Circa 2025
details the expected technological, economic, political and competitive changes,
and identifies future trends and major characteristics that are implied by these
predicted changes.

"Growth and change can make looking ahead a real challenge. As a result, it`s
imperative that we carefully consider the future impact of environmental forces
on our profession," said Mark Langley, executive vice president and chief
operating officer of PMI. "Project Management Circa 2025 reveals how those of us
who work in and serve the project management profession can think strategically
about how the landscape will evolve in the years to come."

Edited by project management luminaries David Cleland, PhD, and Bopaya Bidanda,
PhD, Project Management Circa 2025 is comprised of 29 chapters, delving into
topics such as globalization, space exploration, U.S. defense acquisition,
project portfolio management and sustainable manufacturing. PMI celebrated the
launch of the book with a reception and book signing featuring Cleland and
Bidanda, who assembled a team of contributing authors collectively representing
industry, government agencies, academic institutions, associations and
consulting teams from around the world.

"Project Management Circa 2025 represents the first step in the conversation
that will define the future of project management for the next 20 years and
beyond," said Bidanda. "Project management tools and techniques are critical to
future business success, as tactical and strategic changes impact forthcoming
products, services and organizational processes."

"Project management is the principle means by which we manage change, which is
inevitable in any organization," said Cleland. "Project Management Circa 2025
will create awareness of what future changes can be expected in the use of
project management, and help facilitate the management of these changes."

PMI is offering Project Management Circa 2025 at an introductory sale price of
US$39.95 (regularly US$49.95) until 15 October, available for purchase at
