Sterling extends losses, hits lowest vs euro since March

LONDON Oct 12 (Reuters) - Sterling extended losses on Monday, hitting its lowest level in more than six months against the euro as investors continued to sell the UK currency on the view that British interest rates will remain low.

The euro EURGBP=D4 rose as high as 93.16 pence in early London trade, its strongest since late March.

Losses against the euro pushed sterling's value against a basket of currencies to 77.6, its lowest since late April.

The pound GBP=D4 slid to the day's low of $1.5772, appraching a near-five-month low of $1.5770 hit in September.
