MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA, Oct 13 (MARKET WIRE) --
Clearwell Systems, Inc., a leader in intelligent e-discovery, today
announced it has been recognized as the most popular solution for Early
Case Assessment (ECA) in a Market Snapshot Survey conducted by The Cowen
Group, with 71 percent of the vote. Clearwell was also named one of the
top three ECA vendors in a survey conducted by the International Legal
Technology Association (ILTA). In addition, the ILTA report found that 38
percent of law firms with more than 700 attorneys cited using Clearwell
for e-discovery within the last 12 months, again placing the company in
the top three rankings.

ECA is emerging as a top priority for litigators, and a key driver for
improving case strategy and reducing the cost of litigation. A recent
online poll by Clearwell found that 65 percent of 103 customers surveyed
expect to see an increase in ECA over the next 12 months, pointing to
increased demand for quick analysis of case facts. The Cowen Group report,
"Evaluating Early Case Assessment Tools and Offerings," cited the observed
benefits of ECA as: a) reduced expenses, b) strategic planning, c)
optimizing resources and d) managing budgets. Despite these benefits,
roadblocks to conducting ECA still exist. The Cowen Group report also
cited the most common hurdles as: a) reliable access to case information,
b) available automated technology, c) time and d) resources.

"While there is no singular approach to ECA, it is clear that three
important ingredients are required: a defined workflow, trained ECA
practitioners and enterprise-grade ECA products that make the process
simple, transparent and defensible," said Dean Gonsowski, Esq., VP of
e-discovery services at Clearwell Systems. "Bringing all three together is
much easier today and the rewards for clients and attorneys alike are
close at hand."

To further educate in-house legal teams and law firms on the importance of
ECA and its key benefits, Clearwell has published a whitepaper titled,
"Understanding the Impact of Early Case Assessment to Your Organization."
