US consumer confidence falls in latest week-ABC

 NEW YORK, Oct 13 (Reuters) - ABC News on Tuesday said that its weekly gauge
of U.S. consumer confidence fell, as Americans took a dimmer view on the buying
climate and their personal finances.
 The Consumer Comfort Index fell to -48 in the week ended Oct. 11, from a
reading of -45 in the previous week.
 The index first hit a record low of -54 in the week to Dec. 1, 2008, and
again in the week to Jan. 25, 2009.

 The ABC News consumer confidence survey was based on a sample of about
1,000 interviews conducted in the four weeks ending Oct. 11 and has a margin of
error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
