FLORENCE, Italy Oct 15 (Reuters) - The chairman of Telecom Italia (TLIT.MI) dismissed on Thursday Italian press speculation about the arrival of a new executive on the company's management team, describing it as "completely unfounded".

Citing rumours, daily Corriere della Sera said on Wednesday some of the shareholders in the telecoms operator would like Stefano Parisi, chief executive of broadband operator Fastweb FWB.MI, added to the management team. It said Telecom Italia Chief Executive Franco Bernabe would remain in his role.

"These rumours seem completely unfounded to me," Telecom Italia Chairman Gabriele Galateri di Genola told reporters on the sidelines of an event.

Italy's former monopoly telecoms operator is controlled by holding company Telco, which has 24.5 percent.

Telco investors include Spain's Telefonica (TEF.MC) with 42.3 percent, insurer Generali (GASI.MI) with 28 percent, banks Mediobanca (MDBI.MI) and Intesa Sanpaolo (ISP.MI) with 10.6 percent each and the Benetton family holding company Sintonia with 8.4 percent.

Financial sources told Reuters on Wednesday meetings next week between Telco shareholders could sort out issues of the make-up of their pact and its renewal. [ID:nLE379876]

Sources close to the matter have said it is very likely that all the investors will decide to stay in Telco but changes are expected to their accord, in particular cutting the duration when it is renewed next April to less than three years.

"Our shareholders ... have a long term vision, they are collaborative and I am sure they will take the best decisions for Telco and consequently for Telecom Italia," Galateri said. (Editing by David Holmes)
