New Furniture is Targeted to a Younger and More Tech-Savvy Demographic
MORRISTOWN, Tenn.--(Business Wire)--
Berkline, a leading home furnishings manufacturer specializing in reclining
chairs, sofas, and home theater seating, today announced that it will debut its
Concert Series, a new line of recliners with an integrated sound system, at High
Point Market on October 17-22, 2009.

Concert Series recliners feature two built-in stereo speakers and a subwoofer
designed specifically to create a full range of sound. It has tactile motors
that can either vibrate with the sound or be used independently as a massage
system, and separate controls that allow for individual adjustments to be made
to the volume, bass/treble, and the tactile/massage feature.

The system, which will have a starting price point of $699, will also include a
mini audio jack so users can connect to their various audio sources (i.e. iPods,
MP3 players, cell phones, etc.).

"We`re integrating innovative technologies into our products to more effectively
reach a younger and more tech-savvy demographic," said Bruce Sinning, vice
president of merchandising at Berkline. "Our goal is to continue to meet
evolving consumer needs, and develop unique features that are in line with the
lifestyles of all of our consumer segments"

To that end, Sinning noted that Berkline will also be introducing in select
motion furniture its new eCoupled technology option-a wireless charging station
for electronic devices including cell phones, MP3 players, and laptops.

Developed by Fulton Innovation, it eliminates the need for power cords by
creating an electromagnetic conduit combined with an intelligent control system
that constantly monitors power flow so various devices from different
manufactures can charge at the same time.

eCoupled technology is also safe for electronic devices because it provides only
the amount of power needed to keep a device at peak energy levels, so there is
no risk of overcharging. While the number of devices compatible with this
technology is limited, Berkline expects that more and more brands will move
toward incorporating the ability to connect to the eCoupled function.
