WASHINGTON, Oct. 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AARP, the world's largest
organization for people 50+, today announced that one of the industry's
leading relationship experts, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, will be the organization's
new Love & Relationshipsexpert. In her new role, Dr. Schwartz will guide
AARP's members through the emotional, physical and practical sides of love,
dating and sexuality as you age. She will also author "The Naked Truth," a new
weekly online column (www.aarp.org/nakedtruth) covering various topics related
to love, sexuality and relationships.

"Dr. Schwartz has thrown her heart and soul into researching love and
relationships for more than 35 years and knows exactly what our members are

Dr. Schwartz was selected as AARP's Love & Relationships expert not only
because of her extensive background and expertise on the topic, but also for
her ease in relating to the 50+ audience. Her mission is to improve the lives
of aging boomers and the 50+ audience by enhancing their relationships and
offering counsel on everything from sex and health issues, to communication
and dating as you age. In addition to penning "The Naked Truth," she will
contribute exclusive new online resources and content through instructional
and educational videos, personal blogs and online chats.

"Relationships play such a critical role in people's lives, especially as they
age," said Dr. Schwartz. "My hope is to help those already in relationships

Dr. Schwartz will also focus on how to overcome inhibitions and stereotypes
about sexuality as you age and recharge, or extend the life of, sexual drives.
She added, "Sex may change over the life cycle, but that doesn't mean it has
to become less fulfilling or passionate."

Dr. Schwartz is a Professor of Sociology at the University of Washington in
Seattle. She holds a B.A. and an M.A. from Washington University in St. Louis,
where she was a Woodrow Wilson Fellow, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Sociology from
Yale University. Additionally, she is currently the Chair of the Board for the
Centers of Sexuality and has received multiple awards for her work on intimate
relationships and sexuality, including being honored by the American
Sociological Association for Distinguished Work for Public Understanding of
Sociology.

Schwartz is the author of 16 books (the latest of which is Prime, Adventures
and Advice about Sex, Love and the Sensual Years) and over 50 academic
articles. She is presently also the relationship expert for Perfectmatch.com
(and created their matching system, Duet) and writes for Psych.Today.com and
Bewell.com. She lives on a horse farm in Snoqualmie, Washington with her
family.
