Press Conference in Silicon Valley on Monday, Analyst Briefing in New York
City on Tuesday (ORCL, JAVA)

BRUSSELS, Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- EU strategist who is former MySQL
shareholder and adviser announces Silicon Valley press conference (26 October)
and New York City analyst briefing (27 October) -- Florian Mueller wants to
"explain positions of critics of proposed transaction in the lion's den" --
New York event due to "strong Wall Street interest in the matter."

Oracle Corporation's [ORCL] proposed $7.4 billion acquisition of Sun
Microsystems [JAVA] may be in for another interesting week. On the heels of
increasingly vocal opposition and criticism from the European Commission that
Oracle fails to act constructively to resolve antitrust concerns, an EU
strategist who works with MySQL's founder on this matter announced to take
his information campaign to the US. Florian Mueller will hold a press
conference in Silicon Valley on Monday (26 October, late morning by local
time) and an analyst briefing in New York on Tuesday (27 October, early
afternoon by local time).

"I want to explain the positions of critics of the proposed transaction in the
lion's den", said Mueller in reference to Oracle's and Sun's domicile. The
former MySQL shareholder highlighted "a long history of helping California
software businesses such as [computer game maker] Blizzard Entertainment
generate revenues in Europe" but stressed his view that "the worldwide
knowledge-based economy will benefit if the EC prevents anti-competitive
effects of the MySQL part of the deal on the database market."

The activist, whom the Economist Group had named European Campaigner of the
Year two years before bestowing the same award on California Governor Arnold
Schwarzenegger, wrote a position paper in August for MySQL founder Michael
'Monty' Widenius' new company, Monty Program Ab, which he claims supported the
European Commission's initial investigation. On his tour, he will discuss his
view on competition concerns and the proceeding, and possible ways forward.

"Organizing an analyst briefing in New York was not an initial plan but turned
out necessary and efficient because of strong Wall Street interest in the
matter", said Mueller.

Journalists and analysts interested in the events are encouraged to contact
Mueller.
