HOUSTON Oct 27 (Reuters) - The sulfur recovery unit at BP Plc's (BP.L) 455,790-barrel-per-day (bpd) Texas City, Texas, refinery malfunctioned on Monday, according to a notice filed Tuesday with Texas pollution regulators.

SRU operations returned to stable on Tuesday morning, according to the notice filed with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

"The lack of sulfur recovery caused excess (sulfur dioxide) emissions from numerous sources across the site," according to the notice filed with TCEQ. (Reporting by Erwin Seba)
