BRASILIA Oct 28 (Reuters) - Brazil's National Monetary Council (CMN) on Wednesday raised by 8.5 billion reais the cap on financing the federal electric holding company Eletrobras (ELET6.SA) can tap, bringing it to a total of 12 billion reais ($6.8 billion).

The extra financing will go to the construction of the 1,350 megawatt Angra 3 nuclear reactor in Rio de Janeiro state and for the transmission line construction for the 6,450MW Madeira River Hydroelectric Projects in Rondonia state.

The major energy generation and transmission projects are expected to come on-line between 2011 and 2014 and are part of the government's growth acceleration program (PAC).

The CMN is composed of members from the finance and planning ministries and from the central bank.
