NZ's Freightways Sept qtr profit up 2 pct

WELLINGTON Oct 29 (Reuters) - New Zealand transport firm Freightways Ltd FRE.NZ said on Thursday that its net profit for the three months to Sept. 30 was up 2 percent on a year earlier because of lower debt costs.

The company said its normalised net profit after tax was NZ$7 million ($5.1 million) from revenue of NZ$82 million, which was down 5 percent on last year as freight volumes fell.

Shares in the company last traded at NZ$3.15. ($1=NZ$1.39)
