CUPERTINO, Calif., Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Trend Micro Inc. announced today
that the Electronic Classroom of Tomorrow, in Ohio, has deployed Trend
Micro(TM) Enterprise Security powered by the Trend Micro(TM) Smart Protection
Network(TM) infrastructure to build a multilayered defense to protect more
than 10,000 student and employee internet users from Web, email and endpoint
threats.

Electronic Classroom of Tomorrow (ECOT) is a tuition-free online public school
in Ohio, educating over 9,000 students in grades K-12. The e-school continues
to pioneer innovative curriculum and technology using a broad range of online
courses, and an enterprise-class, secure learning environment. ECOT's IT
team, technology experts who treat security as a high priority, is responsible
for enabling and managing the school's virtual classrooms. After years of
escalating zero-day attacks, ECOT began to evaluate alternatives for security
and found that Trend Micro Enterprise Security gives them better protection
and better visibility of overall security.

Trend Micro Enterprise Security solutions now securing ECOT include: Trend
Micro(TM) OfficeScan(TM) Client-Server Suite for endpoint security protection;
Trend Micro Control Manager for security management; Trend Micro(TM)
InterScan(TM) Web Security Virtual Appliance for Web protection; and Trend
Micro(TM) InterScan(TM) Messaging Security Virtual Appliance for messaging
security for the gateway.

"By switching to Trend Micro Enterprise Security we've gained better
protection and better visibility of overall security. We've been able to
identify and control many threats that were invisible with other security
vendors. Now we only get a handful of threats that require attention and we're
able to deal with them quickly," said Brad Scott, IT manager, Electronic
Classroom of Tomorrow.

The ECOT IT staff has seen great improvements in their security using Trend
Micro Enterprise Security. ECOT has better zero-day protection and reduced
Web threats (secure HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP traffic) with OfficeScan
Client-Server Suite. The solution has minimized disruptions to learning while
shielding students from inappropriate content. The IT staff has broader
visibility and insights about user behavior, enabling them to define better
security policies and enforcement. The integrated multilayered defense and
centralized console have streamlined administration and support.

"Administration is now so much easier compared to our previous Web security
solution," said Jeff Miller, an IT analyst at ECOT. "Trend Micro InterScan Web
Security Virtual Appliance has reduced web support requirements by up to 80
percent. We have to handle far fewer manual interventions for Web site
blacklists and whitelists--quite an improvement."

"With Trend Micro, we now have three layers of protection that have
dramatically cut down on viruses and malware. We have real-time scanning of
all HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP traffic with InterScan Web Security Virtual Appliance
to protect on-network users from threats coming from the Internet. With
OfficeScan Client-Server Suite, we protect users from threats originating in
the internal network and also provide protection to off-network users. And
spam, phishing and email borne malware are being blocked at the network edge
with InterScan Messaging Security Virtual Appliance. The combination of all
these protections is great," explained Miller.

Trend Micro Enterprise Security is a tightly integrated offering of content
security products, services and solutions powered by the Trend Micro Smart
Protection Network. Together they deliver maximum protection from emerging
threats while minimizing the cost and complexity of security management.
