Catapult's Christie Denniston Achieves Professional Accreditation in Public
Relations
Boulder professional earns Public Relations Society's (PRSA) highly coveted
APR designation
BOULDER, Colo., Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Catapult PR-IR
(http://www.catapultpr-ir.com), a leading strategic public and investor
relations firm specializing in high-tech markets, today announced that
Christie Denniston, the firm's senior account executive, successfully
completed the Public Relations Society of America's (PRSA)
(http://www.prsa.org) Examination for Accreditation in Public Relations,
entitling her to use the APR professional designation.
PRSA's APR certification is the mark of distinction for public relations
professionals who demonstrate broad knowledge, strategic perspective and sound
personal judgment. The accreditation program aims to improve the practice of
public relations by assessing competence in 60 areas of knowledge, skills and
abilities associated with the profession, including strategic thinking and
planning, business literacy and legal standards. In order for Denniston to be
granted an APR, not only did she have to complete the rigorous program, but
also present her portfolio to a Readiness Review panel of three peers and pass
a computer-based examination.
"Christie's achievement of receiving APR certification demonstrates her strong
ethical and professional commitment to Catapult and to the PR profession at
large," said Terri Douglas, co-founder and principal of Catapult. "Her
knowledge of and ability in public relations will continue to support
Catapult's client success and further our results-oriented agency."
A graduate of Drake University, Denniston has more than 10 years of experience
in public relations, marketing and corporate communications for both Fortune
500 and non-profit organizations. Her professional experience includes serving
as director of marketing and public relations for Merit Resources, one of the
nation's largest professional employer organizations, as well as leading
public relations efforts as an account executive for several national
companies involved in the technology, telecommunications and healthcare
industries. In addition to her position at Catapult PR-IR, Denniston serves as
an adjunct faculty member in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication
at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Denniston holds Bachelor of Arts
degrees in public relations and sociology from Drake University. In addition,
she has a Master's degree in public administration, with an emphasis in
executive leadership from Drake University.
