Nintendo cuts Wii 2009/10 sales forecasts

TOKYO | Thu Oct 29, 2009 3:06am EDT

TOKYO Oct 29 (Reuters) - Nintendo Co Ltd (7974.OS) cut its sales target for its flagship Wii game console by 23 percent on Thursday, the latest sign of cooling demand for the company's family-friendly games.

Nintendo, which faces tough competition from rivals Sony Corp (6758.T) and Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O), said it now expects to sell 20 million Wii units in the year to the end of March, compared with its original estimate of 26 million. (Reporting by David Dolan)
