Iraq to sign deals for Rumaila, Zubair with BP, Eni

BAGHDAD | Thu Oct 29, 2009 10:08am EDT

BAGHDAD Oct 29 (Reuters) - The Iraqi Oil Ministry will sign a final deal with BP (BP.L) and China's CNPC on Nov. 3 to develop the supergiant Rumaila oilfield and an initial agreement on Nov. 1 with an Eni-led (ENI.MI) consortium for the Zubair oilfield, a spokesman said on Thursday.

The BP contract has already been approved by the Iraqi cabinet. The contract for Zubair with Eni, Occidental Petroleum Corp (OXY.N) and South Korea's KOGAS (036460.KS), will have to go before the cabinet, said Oil Ministry spokesman Asim Jihad.
