Romanian mobile phone manufacturer Visual Fan to preload BOLTas default Web
browser on its Allview handsets
MARLBOROUGH, Mass.--(Business Wire)--
Bitstream Inc. (NASDAQ: BITS) today announced Visual Fan, Ltd. has licensed
distribution rights for BOLTTM, the company`s web browser for mobile phones of
all types. Under this agreement, Visual Fan will preload BOLT as the default
browser on its newest Allview branded handsets. Allview, a leading brand of
handsets and GPS navigation devices in Romania, currently offers seven models of
dual SIM GSM phones.

"As an expanding company in Europe`s fastest growing mobile market it is crucial
that we continue to differentiate Allview from competing brands, and having the
best mobile browser helps set Allview apart," said Adrian Visan, development
manager at Visual Fan. "We put various mobile browsers through significant
testing and found that BOLT not only ran well on all of our handsets, but also
offered the fastest page load speeds with the highest quality rendering. Our
collaboration with Bitstream is sure to add utility and value to Allview
phones." In 2008 Romania witnessed the fastest year-over-year mobile penetration
rates of any EU country, and is currently the seventh largest mobile subscriber
population in Europe.

The first Allview device to be preloaded with BOLT is the F1 X-perience, a dual
SIM, dual standby touchscreen GSM handset boasting a host of advanced features
including an accelerometer, customizable widget menu, TV and FM radio tuners,
mp3 player, WiFi, Bluetooth, and a 3.2 MP camera. In addition to BOLT, the
device will also offer a preloaded version of the popular Ebuddy instant
messaging application, enabling a seamless mobile integration for users of
popular chat services including Yahoo, MSN, Facebook, Google Talk, ICQ and AIM.

"Bitstream has been working on perfecting our mobile browsing technology for
years, culminating in the beta test release of BOLT last February at Mobile
World Congress," said Anna Chagnon, president and CEO of Bitstream. "Downloaded
more than 2 million times in 8 months, we continued to develop important
features important to end users. The result is that BOLT has evolved into the
most fully-featured mobile browser, and an easy addition for handset
manufacturers looking to offer their users the best possible Web experience."

The BOLT mobile browser, built to be used on a wide range of mobile phones from
simple "feature" phones to more advanced devices such as BlackBerry smartphones,
has averaged greater than 50 percent growth in usage each month since the
application made its public debut at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this
past February. Since its introduction, 2.4 million Bolt accounts have been
created, with as many as 2.5 million pages being served up each day.
