NAIROBI Nov 2 (Reuters) - Standard Chartered Bank Kenya, the east African country's third biggest bank by assets, on Monday posted nine-month pretax profit of 5.202 billion shillings ($69.1 million), up from 3.691 billion a year earlier.

The profit increase was driven by a jump in net interest income to 5.5 billion shillings from 4.4 billion in the same period of 2008, as well as higher income from other sources, according to results published by the stock exchange.

The bank recommended paying a second interim dividend of 2.5 shillings. (Reporting by Duncan Miriri; Editing by David Clarke)
