SV Life Sciences Strengthens Team with New Venture Partners

BOSTON & SAN FRANCISCO--(Business Wire)--
SV Life Sciences ("SVLS") today announced the appointment of two new venture
partners, Patrick T. Ryan and James C. Wachtman, both of whom will be based in
the firm`s Boston office. Their addition strengthens SVLS`s expertise in health
care services. 

Pat Ryan has been in the health care services field since 1980, and was
previously Managing Director of Clark Street Ventures LLC. He is the Chairman of
the Board of Broadlane, a leading provider of cost management solutions to the
hospital, nursing home and the outpatient service markets, and is on the
Advisory Board of Ferrer, Freeman and Company. Mr. Ryan also serves as a
director for the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Previously he served as
President and CEO of PolyMedica Corporation (prior to the company's sale to
Medco Health Solutions, Inc.), and before joining PolyMedica, was the Chairman
and CEO of SVLSF II portfolio company Physicians Dialysis Inc. He was also
President and CEO of PrincipalCare Inc. (specialist women's healthcare), and
ImageAmerica, Inc., a publicly traded company providing medical diagnostic
imaging services. Mr. Ryan holds a B.A. in Political Science and Sociology from
the University of Rochester. 

Jim Wachtman joins SVLS having spent over 13 successful years in the eye care
services sector. For six years, Jim served as President and Chief Operating
Officer with Laser Vision Centers (LVCI), a SVLSF I Portfolio Company. In 2002,
Jim led the merger of LVCI with TLC and assumed the role of President and Chief
Operating Officer for the new TLCVision. In October 2004, he was promoted to
President and Chief Executive Officer and appointed to the Board of Directors.
Prior to joining Laser Vision, Jim served in a variety of senior management
positions across products, devices and services for McGaw, Inc. (now B. Braun
McGaw). Most recently, he served as Vice President/Operations of a start-up
pharmacy services business called Central Admixture Pharmacy Services (CAPS).
Jim graduated from Missouri State University in 1982, with a Bachelor of Science
degree in Management and Marketing. In 2006, Jim was awarded an Outstanding
Alumni award by the University.
