PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - The New York Yankees replaced injured outfielder Melky Cabrera with rookie infielder Ramiro Pena on their World Series roster prior to Monday night's Game Five, Major League Baseball announced.

Cabrera, who had been hitting .271 in the postseason, strained his hamstring during Sunday's 7-4 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies that gave New York a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Pena, 24, batted .287 in 69 games for the Yankees, spending half the season in the minors. Brett Gardner replaced Cabrera in center field in the Game Five lineup, with New York needing one more victory to clinch the Fall Classic title.
