Zeltia's Nypta receives orphan drug status

MADRID Nov 3 (Reuters) - Spanish biotechnology firm Zeltia (ZEL.MC) said on Tuesday the European Commission and the FDA had granted its drug Nypta orphan drug status for use in treating progressive supernuclear paralysis, degenerative disease affecting the brain.

Zeltia's unit Noscira, which developed the product, plans to start the first Phase II clinical trial before the end of the year. (Reporting by Sarah Morris, editing by Tracy Rucinski)
