HOUSTON (Reuters) - BP Plc (BP.L) said it had shut some of its production in the Gulf of Mexico by Sunday as Hurricane Ida threatens to roar through the offshore oil patch.

"Some precautionary curtailment of production has taken place," company spokesman Daren Beaudo said in a statement. The company has also evacuated non-essential workers from platforms in the Gulf.
