Hospice Foundation of America Presents Webinar on 'Grief, Holidays, and Family
Dynamics'

WASHINGTON, Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Nationally-known experts Kenneth J. Doka,
PhD, MDiv, and Sherry R. Schachter, PhD, FT, will discuss the importance of
helping grieving people cope with the holidays during Hospice Foundation of
America's (HFA's) live online webinar on Monday, November 16 from 1pm-2pm EST.

"Facing loss at any time is a difficult challenge; dealing with grief during
the holidays, traditionally times filled with joy and celebration, can often
add additional stresses," states Dr. Doka, Senior Consultant to HFA.
"Professionals and families need information and resources to help grieving
people recognize and cope with these feelings."

Dr. Doka and Dr. Schachter will discuss how bereavement professionals and
other providers can help grieving families think ahead about how their
holidays may be different and difficult, and help them plan to cope more
effectively; special emphasis will be given to developing strategies to help
grieving children. And while the webinar takes place during a "season" of
important holidays for many, other holidays throughout the year can generate
grief such as Mother's Day, Father's Day, or Valentine's Day. Dr. Doka and
Dr. Schachter will discuss programs that organizations can use to assist
grieving families during any holiday season.

Kenneth J. Doka, PhD, MDiv, is a professor of gerontology at the Graduate
School of The College of New Rochelle in New York. Dr. Doka has served as a
panelist on all sixteen of HFA's Living With Grief National Bereavement
Teleconferences. Sherry R. Schachter, PhD, FT, is the director of bereavement
services for Calvary Hospital/Hospice, Bronx, NY, where she develops,
coordinates, and facilitates educational services for staff and families. She
facilitates bereavement groups for bereaved spouses/partners, adults whose
parents have died, and parents who have lost children.
