JangoMail "Goes the Distance" with New York Road Runners to Deliver Race Email Alerts During 2009 ING New York City Marathon

JangoMail, an industry leader in permission-based email marketing software,
announced today a project with New York Road Runners (NYRR) in which NYRR
utilized the JangoSMTP service during last week`s 2009 ING New York City
Marathon. Every year, the ING New York City Marathon draws approximately 45,000
participants, 6,000 volunteers, and 2 million spectators. 

For this year`s ING New York City Marathon, NYRR approached and selected
JangoMail as its AthleteAlert solution to manage the delivery of alert emails on
runners during the race. Friends and family members of each runner were able to
"subscribe" to a runner. Whenever the runner reached a checkpoint during the
marathon, NYRR would send an email alert to the subscribers of that runner.
Having considerable experience from running their own systems previously and
evaluating other email service providers, NYRR decided to entrust JangoMail's
SMTP service to avoid previous technology issues such as extensive delays in the
delivery of the email alerts and email blocking issues with consumer ISPs such
as Gmail and Hotmail. 

With JangoMail as its email service partner, NYRR successfully delivered more
than 300,000 timely emails to opted-in subscribers, updating them on the
progress of runners during the ING New York City Marathon. As a true measure of
success, JangoMail managed a delivery rate of 99.7 percent for the marathon
alert emails.
