Fund to Support Four Undergraduate and Seven Graduate Student Veterans at George Washington University WASHINGTON--(Business Wire)-- Z-Medica Corporation, a medical device company developing innovative hemostatic agents which stop bleeding, today announced a new scholarship fund for U.S. military veterans attending George Washington University. The $100,000 QuikClot Scholarship Fund will support George Washington University`s (GW) Yellow Ribbon Program, which allows qualified veterans to attend GW as undergraduate students and receive full tuition scholarships. Qualified graduate students receive a significantly discounted rate of tuition. The QuikClot Scholarship Fund will support four undergraduate and seven graduate student veterans. "GW is honored to have Z-Medica`s support for the Yellow Ribbon Program," said George Washington University senior vice president for student and academic support services Robert Chernak. "Without contributions such as Z-Medica`s the Yellow Ribbon program would not be able to support nearly the number of veterans that we do today." The Yellow Ribbon Program is important because it is designed to cover any outstanding tuition and fees above those covered by the GI Bill benefit. The program will cover all qualified Iraq and Afghanistan War veterans who attend GW. "We are so pleased to be able to give back to the veterans that have selflessly served our country," said Brian Herrman, CEO, Z-Medica. "Our QuikClot product helps soldiers when they are on the battlefield, but we also wanted to provide them with opportunities following their service. We believe the Yellow Ribbon program is the best way to do so." Z-Medica and CEO Brian Herrman were honored for the QuikClot Scholarship Fund at GW`s recent Welcome Home to Washington symposium.
