OSLO Nov 9 (Reuters) - Nordea (NDA.ST), the Nordic region's biggest bank by value, said Swedish peer Swedbank (SWEDa.ST) was an attractive merger partner, business daily Dagens Naeringsliv reported over the weekend. There has been much talk recently about a possible merger between the two groups to create a Nordic banking giant.

"I am not surprised that Swedbank repeatedly is mentioned as a good match for Nordea," Nordea's chief executive Christian Clausen said, according to the Saturday issue of the paper.

"Everyone who is looking at our books can see that this is a good match. But there are also other good matches," he said.

Nordea declined to comment on the article on Monday.

Clausen said many good opportunities had arisen in the wake of the financial crisis, and the landscape would not look the same in a few years' time.

"Many think that the financial crisis is over. That is wrong. There will be a lot happening in the financial industry over the next three years. A lot of banks are depending on governmental support and will not survive," Clausen said. (Reporting by Aasa Christine Stoltz; Editing by Dan Lalor)
