Ventas CEO Named Chair of NAREIT

CHICAGO--(Business Wire)--
Ventas, Inc. (NYSE: VTR) ("Ventas" or the "Company") said today that Chairman,
President and Chief Executive Officer Debra A. Cafaro has been elected Chair of
the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts ("NAREIT") for
2009-2010. Ms. Cafaro served as First Vice Chair of NAREIT for 2008-2009.
"It is an honor to be named Chair of NAREIT," said Cafaro. "During my term, I
will be focused on articulating the value proposition of real estate investment
trusts and working with policymakers on initiatives to increase debt and equity
capital flows to REITs."
Cafaro has been the President and Chief Executive Officer of Ventas since 1999.
She also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Weyerhaeuser Company
(NYSE: WY); World Business Chicago, Chicago`s not-for-profit economic
development corporation chaired by Mayor Richard M. Daley; and the Real Estate
Roundtable. Prior to joining Ventas, Cafaro served as President and a Director
of Ambassador Apartments, Inc. (NYSE: AAH), a multifamily REIT. Cafaro received
her J.D. cum laude from the University of Chicago Law School in 1982 and her
B.A. magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame in 1979.
