Harris Corporation Supports Release of New Version of CONNECT, Built Under
Contract with the Federal Health Architecture
CONNECT 2.2 Promotes Nationwide Health Information Participation and Offers
New User Interface and Enhanced Patient Disclosure Preferences

MELBOURNE, Fla., Nov. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Corporation (NYSE:
HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has
released the next version of the CONNECT open-source software. The CONNECT
solution was developed under contract for the Federal Health Architecture
project within the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT. This new
release enables healthcare organizations to participate in the Nationwide
Health Information Network (NHIN) in order to quickly and securely exchange
patient information.

CONNECT 2.2 adds several important features - significantly increasing the
functionality, security and usability of the software. A few of these
include:
-- A simplified, generic graphical user interface that can be used by the
receiving agency to request and display electronic health records.
-- Implementation of a policy engine that enables patients to identify
        specific preferences for information disclosure.

-- Expansion of the software's encryption capability to encompass
additional interfaces available on the network.

In addition to introducing the new software, Harris - along with its CONNECT
teammates Agilex Technologies and Scenpro - has launched initiatives to foster
a CONNECT Open Source Community. The initiatives include making modifications
to the Web portal, setting up online source control and expansion, and
supporting user forums. The team supported two major CONNECT Open Source
Community forums - the Release 2.2 Webinar in July and the CONNECT Code-A-Thon
in August.

"We are very pleased to not only provide enhancements to the CONNECT solution,
but also to play a role in bringing together many diverse representatives of
the healthcare community through these user forums," said Jim Traficant, vice
president and senior executive of Harris Healthcare Solutions.

"Both of these achievements represent additional milestones in the
implementation of the NHIN. Harris is fully committed to continuing its
support of this national program that will transform healthcare information
sharing."

The CONNECT solution is sponsored by the Federal Health Architecture (FHA)
project within Health and Human Services. FHA recently received the 2009
Information Week's Government Innovator Award for the CONNECT Solution and was
recognized as one of "10 Government Organizations that Understand IT
Innovation."

The Social Security Administration was the first federal agency to go live
with the CONNECT solution in February.
