Leading Software Company for Financial Services and Insurance Reduces Build
Times by 500% and Development Cycles by 40%
SAN RAMON, Calif.--(Business Wire)--
SSP, a leading provider of software solutions for the global insurance and
financial services industries and WANdisco, a leading provider of infrastructure
software for replication, scalability and high availability, today announced
that SSP has selected Subversion MultiSite to support developers located at
sites in Australia, South Africa and the UK. SSP joins a growing list of
globally distributed organizations that use WANdisco`s unique technology to
drive significant time and cost out of their software development lifecycles.

Before implementing Subversion MultiSite, all three teams relied on a central
Subversion server. Slow and unreliable networks between SSP`s locations,
combined with a centralized build process caused delays throughout the entire
development cycle.

After SSP implemented Subversion MultiSite, network performance and reliability
were no longer issues. Now, the latest changes are always available everywhere
and everything happens at local area network speed. SSP`s distributed developers
work as one virtual team and run builds in parallel at each location.

"Subversion MultiSite has transformed our software development process," said
David Stokes, IT Manager, SSP. "We can now run builds at every site immediately
which means that nobody is waiting for a build to happen in a different time
zone. The bottom line is that we improved build times by over 500% and reduced
our development cycles by 40%."

SSP also evaluated svnsync, but found that it wasn`t reliable enough and
couldn`t address their network performance issues. The ability to run builds
locally at each development site was a key requirement that svnsync`s read-only
slave repositories couldn`t support.

"We looked at using svnsync, but we found that it wasn`t as stable as it needed
to be and wasn`t a fit for what we were trying to accomplish with our build
process," continued Stokes.

"We are extremely pleased that SSP has realized the savings in time and cost
that WANdisco`s unique technology brings to the application development
lifecycle for a globally distributed organization," said David Richards,
President and CEO of WANdisco. "SSP`s experience is consistent with what we hear
from our customers across the board."
