WHO: "run for her"(TM) was started in 2005 in honor of Nanci
Sargent, a Calabasas mom and cancer patient, by her daughter
Kelli. Sadly, Nanci lost her 10-year battle with cancer last
year, but her strength, inspiration, and compassion continue
through the event. This year more than 3,500 people are
expected to come together to fulfill Nanci's dream of ending
cancer as a threat to women. Over 100 teams are registered to
participate, twice as many as last year. To date, more than
$1.4 million has been raised to support the work of WCRI.

WHY: To raise awareness about ovarian cancer and generate support
for the Cedars-Sinai Women's Cancer Research Institute (WCRI)
at the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute. Event
proceeds go to increasing ovarian cancer research and
                awareness.
